The Friends of Lakeside Primary School

Who are we?

The Friends of Lakeside Primary is a group set up to raise funds for the school in order to provide the “extras” which would not be available within the normal school budget.

What do we do?

During the school year the Friends organise a variety of events for children and parents. We keep parents up to date with these events and how we have spent the money raised via the school’s weekly newsletter and our new website.
Our activities and events have included the Christmas Fair, children’s themed discos, “Boutique Treats” (a ladies pamper night), sports day refreshments, Bags to School collections, tuck shops, cinema week, character themed World Book Day, children’s Christmas cards & supporting the children at the class assemblies.

How do we use the funds raised?

We present the school with an amount of money raised at the beginning of each school year and together agree what to spend it on.  This year the Friends gave the money to the school to support the 20th Anniversary celebrations.  A bulk of the money went towards the tile mural which can be seen in the main hall.  We also wanted to treat the whole school so earmarked some money for the children to have unusual and exciting new experiences.  We have already paid for the Falconry Display in the Autumn Term and plan to support two further school events over the next two terms.
